What do I aim to produce?
My aim for this project is to produce a short film that shows the present day to show the main character suffering from depression and how he remembers about the past event that affected him for over a year.
I prefer watching things that tell a story without relying on music or dialogue to support the story, or how the story progresses because I enjoy being able to pay attention to where a character is or what they’re doing, rather than what they’re saying. I aim to use as little dialogue as I can. However, while I am planning to make this with as little audio possible, this only applies to the characters speaking in certain scenes that don’t necessarily need to have audio, so I am going to be including a voice over to reference certain events and narrate previous events such as flashbacks.
How does my FMP idea relate to my skills?
I have created and edited a short film called “I Want That Magazine”, so I have skills in editing together a video around a storyline. I have used a DSLR camera before, as well as video cameras, so I know my way around filming with both.
What new skills + techniques do I aim to learn for this project?
I would need to learn how to create more cinematic-looking shots so scenes look more professional and help to visually build a scene up more. I also need to learn how to create a fake TV news report since in one of my scenes the TV is shown and a news report is shown about a car crash that has happened due to the storm.
